How To Have A Brick House Body
š·š·š· Remember the story of the 3 Little pigs?
š One built his house of straw, one built his house of wood and one built his house of bricks. The first two houses succumbed to the big bad wolf, the enemy, who was easily able to destroy the houses on poor foundations. But he couldnāt destroy the last house, the one built of bricks. It was strong and grounded. šŖš¼
š Yāall, we want to be the brick house. And not just the one the Commodores sang about in the 1970ās although Iāll take that too. š
šš¼ We want to build our Holy Temples on unshakable foundations. That means building our minds on the Word and our bodies on Real Food the way God made it.
To build your mind: Read scripture, a devotional or a book that illuminates scripture for you. If you donāt know where to start with the Bible, try the book of Proverbs. Itās chock full of great life advice and there are 31 short chapters, so you could commit to reading one Proverb a day and finish in a month. It wouldnāt take you more than 10 minutes a day but be SUCH a great way to lay the strong foundation of your mind.
A popular devotional is Jesus Calling, which shares a super short reading and suggested Bible verses to look up. Again, five or ten minutes tops. It doesnāt take long but it makes all the difference in the world to keep your mind full of the Word.
To build your body: First things first. You must build your Holy Temple with the materials it needs and knows how to use. It doesnāt know how to use pop tarts or McDonaldās French fries or red-dyed āstrawberryā yogurt with artificial sweetener.
If you want a Brick House - start with really high quality protein like wild-caught fish, pastured eggs, grass-fed beef, wild game, or pastured (or organic) chicken. The amino acids will help build and repair your muscle tissue and create a solid foundation.
Add your favorite vegetables - raw or cooked - paired with a healthy fat like extra-virgin olive oil, coconut oil, butter, avocados or nuts and seeds. This will deliver a power punch of vitamins, minerals and fatty acids to keep the house healthy and strong.
The more proteins and veggies you get in your day, the stronger your foundation will be.
The final touch is exercise. If you truly want a Brick House, this is going to have to include some weight or resistance training. Walking, jogging, running and other cardio isnāt going to cut it, literally. You donāt get any shred with cardio alone. To build up muscle, simple exercises like squats and lunges, push-ups and tricep dips can make all of the difference. It doesnāt have to be a big gym deal. I drop and do push-ups in my living room, lunges around my yard and squats while Iām watching television. Work them into your day two to three times a week and watch how your body starts changing!
Thereās no supplement or magic diet that will create the rock solid foundation you truly want. To keep your house stable and standing strong in the face of all that comes against it, it requires the right building blocks. Thereās no way around that.
No enemy can blow down our holy fortress when itās built on Godās love, His Word, His provision, His protection. Shore up your foundation, friends. Keep laying the bricks of your mind and body. Let no enemy come against you.
