Show Notes
(0:00) Intro
Hello my friend, welcome back to the club. How are you today?
Today we are going to talk about follow-through strategies
10x Stronger is starting this week!
I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. He says - For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. Romans 7:15 & 18
(3:35) Better Than Before by Gretchen Rubin
Are you an Upholder?
An Upholder is likely someone who loves routine and from the outset appears to be very disciplined
Are you a Questioner?
A questioner will follow through -if they feel like the goal or task is worthy and justified, if it has good reason behind it, they’ll do it.
Are you an Obliger?
Obligers are better at meeting outer expectation rather than inner expectation. They are more likely to follow through if someone else is expecting them to rather than just expecting themself to do it.
Are you a Rebel?
Rebels - as you might imagine - are NOT driven by external expectation.
Follow-Through & Accountability Strategies
(15:59) #1. Food Journal
Studies show that people who keep a food diary loose 3 times as much weight as those who don’t.
Keeping a journal can also help you make connections between your diet and your health issues.
(20:08) #2. Photo journal
But do you Know what’s more effective than a written food journal? A photo journal - taking pictures of your food AND your body.
There’s evidence showing that taking real time food pictures is even MORE effective than a written food journal and if a food journal makes people lose 3x more weight then imagine how much a photo journal increases your success.
(22:50) #3. Accountability Partner or Group (nutritionist, trainer, CHC group)
If you’ve scheduled a time to meet a friend to go for a walk, or you have an appt with a trainer at the gym, or you’re meeting regularly with your nutritionist or you’re committed to posting daily food photos in your nutrition group - all of those increase your chances of showing up which increase your chances at success.
“You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.” - Jim Rohn
(27:00) #4. App - MFP, Carb Manager, Zero
I have clients that love using something like My Fitness Pal or Carb Manager to log in food and exercise. It helps a lot of people stay on track.
I love the fasting apps and recommend people use them when we do F2F.
(28:55) #5. Money - class, protocol, program, accountability investment
When you have some skin in the game, you’re much much more likely to follow through. When you pay for something you are much more likely to want to get your money’s worth.
It is completely optional but I have put into place an Accountability Investment Follow -Through Challenge which involves people submitting a payment of $150 and turning in their weekly written journal to me and if they do that, they’ll get their money back.
(40:15) Closing Thoughts:
No matter which strategy resonates with you or you decide to use - I encourage you to give one of them a try. If you’re doing 10x Stronger with us we have the journals ready, we have our group ready, we have the special follow through challenge ready - we are ready. We are going to keep The Word - God’s word front and center - it’s incorporated in the weekly journals and we’re going to keep OUR WORD to ourselves, to follow through to honor our bodies, to commit to this month of self-stewardship. Are you ready? Let’s do it.
