  • Today we’re talking about Eating Healthy on a Budget. I have been wanting to do a podcast on this for some time but I think now is the perfect time because everything has gotten so expensive. I don’t think I’ve ever seen food prices this high and, along with the inflation of so many other things, it’s getting increasingly challenging to stick to a budget AND stick to your food goals.

(6:05) Can you give us some advice with working with budget and what to do in this inflation situation?

#1. Stop Eating Out.

  • Tracking how much you’re spending going out to eat

  • Take full inventory once a week before you go shopping and then shop off of your list.

  • Find out how to get the family involved and make choices.

  • If planning for the whole week feels like too much, plan two grocery trips per week.

  • If nothing else, plan dinners.

  • Juices, extra condiments, nixing the snack aisle.

  • Taking eating the right amount into account 

  • Look into local farms

  • Conventional meat / ruminant animals

  •  Look at the labels/ingredients

  • Weekly flyers / store apps

  •  Frozen produce can be more nutrients dense than fresh
