SHOW NOTES

(0:00) Intro

(0:44) Hello my beautiful friend! It’s that time of year: Back to school time!

(1:20) Let’s face this time of year head on with a biblical perspective, shall we?

o   This is not just for mommas, this is for every busy woman!

o   This time of year holds the energy of a fresh start and clean slate

(3:00) Placing too much pressure on ourselves to have it together.

o   The real question is: Who I am doing all of this for?

o   Identifying this “picture of perfection” and our mountain of expectations.

(4:00) Setting the scene between Martha, Mary, and Jesus:

o   Realizing that staying too busy makes us miss the importance of what’s happening right in front of us

(4:22) Luke 10:38-42

As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him.  She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!”

“Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one.  Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”

o   Moral of the story: If you are stressed out over all the things, you are missing the most important things: The people in front of us, and the Lord of the Universe.

o   The people in our lives really just want us— our time, and our presence, and our love.

(6:39) Let’s stop wearing busy like a badge of honor

o   She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness. Proverbs 31:27

(8:12) How can we feel more relaxed and less crazed?

o   Do not let your relationship with God slip to the back burner.

o   Take care of yourself.

o   Nothing on our back to school to-do list is better for our families than a peaceful and healthy momma.

o   Put on the armor of God and the pieces will fall into place gracefully.

(10:52) It feels good to have a start date, just like the kiddos.

o   As we start Feast 2 Fast we are keeping God and our needs on the front burner!
