Carly's Update on Married Life

Married life has been an absolute whirlwind in the best way! So many adjustments and big changes but I’m so grateful for him and for God’s gift to us of our marriage. We went to Sedona and the Grand Canyon in Arizona on a beautiful honeymoon, Josh just got a new job which is starting March 4, we moved into our first home (apartment) together, and I am super busy seeing patients in my nurse practitioner role. Not to mention, prepping for our next cohort of the school to launch!

Exciting Announcement: The School of Christian Health and Nutrition

Yes! Carly and I are preparing for the next cohort to start in The School of Christian Health and Nutrition. Registration is opening very soon and our first live class call is on April 8th. We are super excited; we’ve had people on the waiting list just chomping at the bit, ready to to start. We’ve had lots of inquiries and questions and so we decided to put some videos together that you can dive into ahead of time that give you bite size pieces of what we teach in the school and answer all of your questions. It’s called The Science of God’s Divine Design and It’s like a delicious little appetizer for those of you who are excited to get started or are just curious about the school in any way. It’s only going to be available from March 6-16 - so it’s a limited time series and you don’t want to miss it. Especially if you’re interested in joining this next cohort because it will give you early access to the program AND a special discounted price that is ONLY available to those who watch The Science of God’s Divine Design series. If you are on our waitlist we will send you an email to remind you or you can go to www.thechristiannutritionist.com/divinedesign from March 6-16 to watch it.

Ok, now let's delve into today's fun topic.

What I Would Do If?...Navigating Common Health Challenges

Fever: Carly's Perspective

Fever is actually NOT inherently a bad thing. I feel like it gets this Bogeyman reputation that it really doesn’t deserve. A fever is defined as a temperature above 100.4º, so if it’s under that it is also not technically a fever. A fever is actually part of our body’s process of fighting off an infection. Pyrogens in the body are induced when there is a pathogen overload and the body is trying to turn up the heat to kill off the pathogen. This makes sense, of course, and this is why we don’t want to panic at the first sign of fever. It can actually be super beneficial for fighting off an illness quickly and thoroughly, so I usually try to ride it out for a few days. However, if fever is causing severe symptoms, dehydration, etc. I will jump into action with some of the tools I have in my back pocket!

We’ve linked in the Show Notes Earthley Wellness’s website with a Fever Magnet that gives guidelines on “levels” of fever and information about what to do. Having this knowledge is sooo important!

There are a few things I do BEFORE medicating in this case:

  • Hydration and LOTS of electrolytes

  • Lukewarm shower/bath (it will feel cold if you have a fever)

  • Earthley’s Feel Better Fast remedy: Feel Better Fast is a “go-to” remedy for lots of things- pain, upset stomach, fever. It has key herbs including echinacea, fennel, astragalus, elderflower, and cinnamon.

Tools for Pain Relief: Chelsea's Insights

Yeah when it comes to headaches my kids always know I’m first going to ask them - have you had enough water today? Have you had any electrolytes? When they come to tell me they have a headache they’ll say….and yes mom I've had enough water and electrolytes. They’ll always preface it first because they know I’m going to ask. We also have an essential oil roller from Revive Oils called Headache so we use that. When they’re feeling kind of crummy in general they know to take an epsom salt bath. That’s always a good one to do.

Acute Headache/Pain/Injury: Carly's Perspective

Another helpful thing we may take is turmeric/ginger tincture. Our favorite kind is Leefy Prana tincture, and we may take 2-3 dropperfuls up to 3x a day. The best part about this tincture is it can generally be used for children as well as dogs (always talk to your medical provider before adding any of these things to a routine, though!).

Supporting Gut Health During Antibiotic Use: Carly's Approach

I always pride myself on trying to avoid medications, especially antibiotics. But this year has certainly been humbling with the wedding stress, my body was thrown for a loop! That said, I already was armed with all of my Earthley Wellness tools to help me through the storm.

When it comes to antibiotics, it’s so important to focus on repairing the gut and reseeding it with the good bacteria that can be lost during antibiotic use. Some of my favorite tools for this are:

  • Soil-Based Probiotics: You want to make sure that these are taken AWAY from the antibiotic dose.

  • Colostrum: This is great for sealing and healing the gut lining.

  • Saccharomyces Boulardii: This is a beneficial yeast that can help prevent and treat antibiotic-associated diarrhea.

It's really about finding that balance between necessary medical intervention and supporting the body's natural healing mechanisms. And remember, it's always best to consult with a healthcare professional before making any significant changes to your health regimen.
