244: What My HTMA Revealed with Nicole Bergeland, CHP

In this week’s episode, Christian Health Practitioner Nicole Bergeland shares how insightful Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis has been in her personal health journey and for her clients. Her test revealed that she’s a fast metabolizer (not always a good thing!), that she's stuck in fight-or-flight and that she’s bottomed out in four crucial minerals. Through HTMA, one of her family members discovered high arsenic levels which led to them to find it in their well water. 

HTMA offers great insight on things like metabolic type, adrenal function, thyroid function, stress patterns and immune function. It’s a relatively inexpensive and easy test but it gives you a lot of information. Come listen to learn more about what HTMA can reveal about your health!

Jesus said that we are the salt of the earth and that we are made to be salty, to bring a distinct flavor into the world as followers of Christ. But it’s hard to be salty spiritually when we’re not salty physically!  Salt is such a critical part of our physical well being that, we not only feel unwell when we don’t get enough salt, but we would die without enough salt in our body. Did you know our blood is similar to the ocean in salt content? And that you can’t get water into your cell without salt? Many people are perpetually dehydrated because they don’t have enough of this critical mineral in their body. But, we can’t just put any old salt into these Kingdom bodies, we need super high quality, unrefined salt just the way God made it. 238: Reconsidering Fasting and Meal Timing

In this week’s episode we’re diving into some of the science and nuance around fasting and how to make considerations based on your stage and season of life. Here are key points we cover:

  1. Eat with the sun and The Son. Eat within the daylight hours and eat with gratitude and glory to the Lord our Savior.

  2. Try to get morning sunlight in your eyes before you eat.

  3. Eat by 10am to help support muscle protein synthesis. This becomes more important as we age in order to help counteract age-related muscle loss.

  4. Eat within the first hour of waking to help restore leptin sensitivity.

  5. Variables like coffee and exercise while fasting depend a lot on your stress levels.

Ultimately your choices are between you, your body and the Creator of your body. It’s always important to consider how we are serving the Lord in the stewardship of our bodies, how we are or aren’t honoring the needs of our bodies, and how we need to be open to how those needs may change in the different seasons and stages of our lives. I hope this week’s episode helps give you insight, information and support so that you better tap into that discernment at all levels.
