The Capsule Wardrobe Experiment
There is something enormously satisfying about a bargain. You kind of feel like you’re cheating the system. Like you’re practically making money because you’re saving so much off the original price.
The first time I went to Jesus Camp (4 years ago) I had NO idea what to expect. I’d never been to Nantucket, I’d never met the lady who asked me to come and I’d never spoken at a spiritual retreat.
As I was thinking it over, considering the fact that my BFF gave them her stamp of approval but my hubs really did not, it led me to ask myself: Do We Dress for the Approval of Men or other Women?
As the end of summer neared, I started having some internal panic about what I was about to do. Drastically cut my clothes options? Vow not to buy anything for the next three months? Why am I doing this to myself again?
My last pile is the largest - clothes to donate. I have boxes and boxes. How did I get so much stuff? I’m disgusted with myself and almost embarrassed when a local lady comes to pick up my discards. She will go through and pick what her family can use and then take the rest to her extended family in Mexico
The Capsule Wardrobe Experiment is a way for us to seek simplicity, discipline and declutter. The following is my beginning into capsule wardrobe, please join me and let’s be accountable together.
I did it! I finished The Capsule Wardrobe Experiment! I have to admit- I’m ready for a change!
There are some things I’m definitely keeping IN…they’re just too core to let go. Other things can’t get out the door fast enough. But here’s what’s so liberating: I can say adios to the non-keeper clothes without guilt or second-guessing or worry that I will ever want them back. I won’t.
