145: The B- Approach to Health and Weight Loss

Many people are very black or white, on or off, A or F when it comes to their health goals. If they don’t do it perfectly, they consider it a failure and often give up. But when your kid comes home with B (or even less), do you say:  You might as well stop trying and get an F? And you might as well make it the F of all F’s? Let’s see how low you can go!

Of course we don’t. And, yet, it’s what we do with our health goals.

Well, I wasn’t an A today, I  didn’t do it perfectly, so forget it, where’s the ice cream and the chips and the vodka?

We take our B- straight to the toilet and flush all of our efforts and previous good work down the tubes because we didn’t do it perfectly. One of the hardest things we have to learn is grace for being imperfect without allowing ourselves to pity party into deeper failure. Do you know how much weight you could lose and health you could gain with B- work? A lot my friend. You can accomplish much more in your consistent imperfection than in your sporadic perfection.

That’s what we’re talking about in this week’s podcast episode. Come listen to more about

the B- Approach health and weight loss.

EPISODE 145: The B- Approach to Health and Weight Loss

Show Notes

(0:00) Intro

  • Hello my friend! Welcome back to the club, how are you today?

  • Today we are going to talk about an interesting concept I learned from Brooke Castillo at The Life Coach School when I was in her self-coaching scholars membership group.

(2:40) Becoming The Christian Nutritionist and the Evolution

  • SOTC

    • Becoming okay with putting my imperfect self out into the world so that I could show up and do the work that God has called me to do.

  • God equips the called. He is the equipment.

(10:15) Brooke Castillo’s concept of The B- Approach:

  • Not letting “perfection” prevent progress

  • We are not going to be an A+ in every moment of our lives.

(12:30) Applying the concept to health and nutrition:

  • Who is grading the report card? You are. Ease up on yourself sister.

  • Story of my daughter learning to draw 8’s

  • “If I am not an A, I might as well be an F!”

  • Learning to have grace for being imperfect

(16:15) If you want to move toward freedom and safety, you have to look forward.

  • Don’t be like Lot’s wife, don’t look back because you are not going that way.

“Anyone who puts a hand to the plow and then looks back is not fit for the Kingdom of God.” Luke 9:62

  • You’re not a failure for eating imperfectly, you only fail if you give that more power than your God-given ability to move forward.

    • Mind Management

For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. Romans 14:17

(19:45) Putting God First:

  • Refocus on the true purpose of the body: which is to be an excellent vessel of the Holy Spirit and to do God’s work in the world as our first priority.

  • You can still get the job done with imperfect action. Whether that job pertains to your health, your parenting, your business, saying yes to a calling from God.

  • If you want a long-game plan that puts the Lord first, come join in F2F. We start the first Monday of January, you can sign up right now and get immediate access to everything you need to prepare and get started.

    • You can go HERE to get signed up and join me and all of the other awesome Christian women in the group.
