157: Hormones, Libido and Sex with Dr John Gray
We all know that we can improve hormones through nutrition, exercise, less stress and more sleep. But did you know that you can manipulate your hormonal production by the way you spend time alone or with friends? By the kind of work that you do? By the conversations you have with your spouse? For instance, men need “cave time” so that they don’t become overly estrogenic.
Too much “task time” can make women estrogen deficient.
Being too “needy” can make women estrogen dominant.
Complaining to your husband reduces his testosterone.
Appreciating yourself can increase your progesterone. These are concepts we talk about in this week’s podcast with Dr. John Gray and that you can find in his latest book: Beyond Mars and Venus.
We also cover a lot about sex and libido so - hold on to your hat - this week’s episode might blow you away! 😅

The way our body receives food is as important as the food that goes into it. God designed each step of the process to work in a certain way and that requires us to be active participants in ensuring its success. This involves reaching out to our Healer as we receive His healing provision.
In this week’s episode, fellow FNTP Ellen Roufs is joining me to explain this full spirit, mind, body process and how we can best put ourselves in the posture for receiving.

154: Superfasting for Spiritual Feasting
One of the benefits of longer fasting is sharpened mental clarity. This is because when you burn through glucose (sugar), your body starts burning fat and producing ketones. When your brain doesn’t have glucose to use as fuel, it uses these ketones from fatty acids, which is a much cleaner burning fuel. It’s like the fog lifts and your brain becomes more awake. Is it any surprise that God designed us with the means to clear our brains to hear Him better? Fasting enhances our spiritual experience. We are called to fast, and when we do, it puts us in the position of receiving His guidance more clearly.
“So we fasted and petitioned our God about this, and he answered our prayer.” Ezra 8:23
This week’s podcast is all about the way Super Fasting leads to Spiritual Feasting. Come listen to what this means for you in spirit, mind and body.

153: Ancient Physician Wisdom
I have a total crush on Hippocrates - a Greek doctor who lived over 2000 years ago. I am blown away by his instinct and foresight and the way he practiced medicine. He prescribed real food, walking, sunshine, fasting, rest, massages and wine. 🙌🏻 He’s the one who said all disease begins in the gut, something science is now starting to prove.
In this week’s episode, we’re seeing how the advice of Hippocrates - who is considered the father of medicine - aligns with the provision of THE Father of Medicine. He left us some key nuggets of health wisdom and is our “honored guest” on the podcast this week. This is all about holistic medicine at its finest - come listen!

152: The Iron Episode with Michael Rutherford, FNTP
Fatigue, shortness of breath, restless legs, high cholesterol, circulation issues and gastrointestinal problems are a few of the symptoms you can experience with poor iron regulation. Being too high or too low are equally problematic and, yet, many people are advised based on the ferritin marker on their blood panel which is a poor way to assess iron levels.
In this week’s podcast episode expert Michael Rutherford explains the markers, the foods, the supplements and everything you need to know when it comes to iron. Listen and learn about one of the most critical minerals in your body!

151: Healing Hormones Naturally with Dr Beth Cook
Many women who struggle with their hormones feel so lost and frustrated. They want to get their health on track but are given such limited (and often terrible) options by their doctors. Things like - birth control, HRT, a hysterectomy, depression meds or even being told they’re totally fine when they’re not.
In this week’s episode Dr Beth Cook and I talk about what to address when it comes to your hormones instead of band-aiding it with prescriptions or surgery.

150: What Is A Biblical Diet?
There are a lot of books and differing opinions about what a Biblical diet is. I get asked about this often - mostly regarding whether or not we should all be plant-based vegans because God put Adam and Eve in The Garden. Spoiler alert: we sinned and got kicked out of The Garden AND God gave us meat to eat (not only that, He even specified what kind - see Genesis 9:3 and Leviticus 11).
Another spoiler alert is that we don’t all live in the Middle East and so what was native to Biblical people is not necessarily “the” food list every person is meant to follow. There’s more critical thinking we need to do when it comes to being in alignment with a Biblical diet. That’s what we’re talking about in this week’s episode: the overarching Biblical concepts that best inform our approach to Biblical eating and what it means.

149: Discipline, Restriction and Disordered Eating with Carly Stagg, RN, FNTP
Carly’s story starts out like many of ours do when we set a health goal– eliminating unhealthy foods and exercising regularly. But what began as a pursuit of health quickly unraveled into disordered eating and a constant compulsion to exercise. She restricted her food, she worked out incessantly and she panicked in social settings that interfered with her food and exercise plans.
In this week’s podcast episode, my friend and colleague Carly bravely shares her story in hopes of shedding some light on the spectrum of disordered eating to eating disorders.
Now, on the other side of it, she’s also researched the fascinating connection of dysregulated hunger hormones and neurotransmitters associated with these conditions.
There are lots of signs and behaviors we need to be aware of for ourselves, our friends, and our daughters. Listen in for important information on this sensitive topic.
